Based in Dundee, Advanced Training Solutions (ATS) delivers high quality training to the Tay Cities Region. Specialising in construction, health and safety, as well as a number of closely related industries, ATS aims to support the workforces of micro, small and medium sized businesses with outstanding training and Continual Professional Development (CPD).

Committed to the professional development of the young workforce we always strive for the highest of standards through the delivery of our fit for purpose training programmes. Within the construction and training industries, our directors have over 50 years’ experience, and fully understand the crucial need for quality training and development opportunities for all employees.

We are committed to the developing tomorrow’s workforce and work closely with Alexander Community Development. Our partnership ensures that there is a clear pathway for those within industry to secure their future careers.

Where is ATS based?

ATS is based in the Coldside area of Dundee, just off of the Kingsway and approximately 5 minutes from the city centre.

Sharing a building with successful construction and training charity, Alexander Community Development, we are committed to supporting this organisation through our tenancy in their building, and also with a commitment to donating 10% of our profits back into their Transition to Trade programme.

Delivering training over various locations within the building, including classrooms, internal and external training spaces and online, ATS is uniquely placed to provide all of your companies training requirements under one roof.

Meet the Team

John Alexander | Director

John Alexander has 20 years of experience in running Dundee’s largest painting and decorating company, as well as a vast experience of delivering practical and classroom-based training, including Health &Safety, Personal Development and industry specific qualifications.

Working closely with the local community, since 2003, John is proud to have offered hundreds of work placements and apprenticeships. John has a desire to help the city of Dundee and wanted to create a sustainable legacy to boost the employability and the economy of the local area. In 2020, he became the C.E.O. of ACD and has a unique understanding of the needs of the construction sector.

Kara Swankie | Director

Kara Swankie has a background in successfully founding and selling startup
businesses. With a unique understanding of establishing businesses in the current climate, Kara is a qualified in Project Management and highly skilled in innovation and people management. She has a range qualification’s including Business Management, NEBOSH, TECH IOSH amongst others.

Through her involved in multiple businesses, Kara has extensive experience of engaging stakeholders at all levels, as well as operational finance, and the delivery of pioneering programmes.
